2018 Biscuit Campaign

Now that Districts are selling out of Girl Guide Biscuits for the year, we are going to start removing our advertising for the campaign from the website and social media on 1 August 2018. This is a final reminder to email webmaster@guidesqld.org if you would like to add or remove your biscuit contact from the www.guidesqld.org/biscuits webpage or advertise an upcoming event.

Guides Supplies Update

  • Guide Supplies will be open Saturday 21 July from 8am to 9am for Region Managers conference and anyone else who may wish to drop in.
  • The next Uniform delivery is due in August.
  • Look Wide and Aim High books are currently being printed and should be back in stock in a week or 2.
  • State Good Turn 2018 badges are now back in stock.

PGL Kindilan Security

PGL Kindlian have advised that they are aiming to improve security at the grounds by keeping the gate closed and eventually hoping to have one of their staff members on site all the time who will open the gate for access. In the meantime, the PIN for the gate will now be changed more frequently, but as PGL Kindilan recognises the fact that due to the nature of the trainings, activities and events run by Guides, it means that people often arrive and leave at very different times so it is not feasible to limit access to the PIN. Therefore the PIN will continue to be provided to the Guide Leaders who can pass this on to anyone who needs access to the site for the particular event.

If the gate is closed, and you do not have the correct PIN, you can use the phone at the gate to contact a staff member who can provide the PIN.

Get Started Reminder

The next round of get started vouchers will open on 25 July 2018.

Yellow Pages Fundraising Opportunity

GDR group is a company which coordinates the delivery of Yellow Pages books (yes they still exist!). They contract out the delivery of these books to local community groups, as these groups often know the area much better than a delivery service.

They offer $0.30 - $0.45 per book delivered, the payment varies depending on the difficulty of delivery i.e. lots of hills, or large distances between houses.

This could be an opportunity to raise funds for your District of Region. If you are delivering 1,000 books per day (which is achievable for a team of 3) you can be raising $300 - $500.

Distribution is occuring in stages across the state. If you would like to be involved, please check the spreadsheet to find out the delivery times in your area and quantities. If you are interested in participating in this opportunity, please email Brianne Golding, Operations Assistant at GDR at brianneg@gdrgroup.com.au and cc in seo@guidesqld.org and caitlink@guidesqld.org

Unidentified Payments

Girl Guides Queensland (GGQ) has $4,000 in unidentified direct deposits that cannot be processed due to reasons that can be easily overcome with your help. As Leaders who distribute the current membership forms containing the bank account and reference details, it is imperative that you check the below documents to claim paperwork or money that may belong to your Unit.

Please forward all queries and/or membership forms to membership@guidesqld.org.
